  1. Delfshaven

A glimpse of historical Rotterdam: picture perfect harbour, traditional Dutch houses and a vibe straight out of a storybook. It's like stepping into a time machine, but with way better pubs! Come for some traditional dutch ‘stamppot’, beer tastings, traditional gin (jenever) or just enjoy walking around. Delfshaven is located at the westside of Rotterdam, at the end of Nieuwe Binnenweg. This vibrant multi-culti street connects this historical quarter to Rotterdam’s city centre. In other words, Delfshaven is the perfect start or ending of a day in Rotterdam.

2. Blaak

This is where the magic happens. Rotterdam’s buzzing city centre is modern and diverse. From famous shopping streets like Koopgoot to unique stores and pubs on the Meent– Rotterdam’s got it all. Start at Rotterdam Central Station (an architectural wonder worth seeing) and dive straight into the city's beating heart. Swing by Stadhuisplein for some lively action or walk further down to Blaak.

3. Meent

It's central but peaceful and full of life. A charming old harbour with cozy pubs (gezellig– as we would say) and Cube Houses that'll make you go "Whoa!". Cross the road, and you’ll meet Markthal. It’s another architectural wonder, but this one’s full of food! Coming in on tuesday or saturday? Lucky you! There’s a street market right on front on it’s square, surrounded by traditional pubs and shops. Fancy some fresh air? Walk down to the river Maas and cross the iconic red Willemsbrudge to the next neighbourhood.

4. Noordereiland

A little island escape in the river Maas. Yep– you heard that correctly. It's the chill-out zone amidst the city rush. Cross that big iconic red Willems Bridge for the best views of Rotterdam, trust us. Once you’ve hit the streets of Noordereiland you’ll see what we mean. It’s central but tranquil. You’ll find just a few (but very good) lunch spots, a fresh breeze, old Dutch houses with skyscraper views. Perfect for a late afternoon walk.

5. Kop van Zuid

Plot twist– this neighbourhood smells like champagne. Think of Kop van Zuid as a sci-fi movie set, but real. Futuristic skyscrapers meet our sassy swan– the Erasmus Bridge. You’ll see glamorous office buildings, cruise ships and our famous Hotel New York– former office of the Holland America line– now transformed into a gorgeous bar and restaurant with traditional Dutch cuisine. There’s the Foodhallen, a cinema, and rooftop bar with amazing Rotterdam skyline views. What else could you wish for?

6. Katendrecht

A real hidden gem. Just a short walk from Kop van Zuid, this neighbourhood transformed from dodgy to trendy! Now this cool kid on the block is a foodie's dream, with the funky Fenix Food Factory. Think beers, fresh breeze and local products. Walk down further and you’ll find a charming square, with a fun mix of traditional pubs and top restaurants.

7. Kralingen

Playful, diverse and picturesque. Whether you want to save or spend money, you’ll have a great time in this neighbourhood. Grab a coffee and get some fresh air in Kralingse Bos or go boutique shopping in Lusthofstraat. Hangry? Kralingen has got plenty of options to choose from– from sophisticated restaurants to delis and international takeaway shops. Up for more fun? Stroll over to Kralingen’s neighbour, Oude Noorden!

8. Oude Noorden

The artsy, edgy, too-cool-for-school neighbourhood. It's a melting pot of cultures, which means loads of funky shops, tasty restaurants, and lively markets every week. Don't miss the Oogstmarkt for delicious local treats – it's a hit! Plus, there are old-school Dutch beer spots, cute canals, and chill cafes. It's the new go-to place for a fun Saturday afternoon.

9. Blijdorp

More than just a zoo! It's the laid-back, leafy side of Rotterdam. Blijdorp is one of Rotterdam’s most favourite neighbourhoods to live in. Pop over to Vroesenpark for a breezy break or rest your feet in one of the typical Dutch pubs. Best part? Blijdorp is located just behind Rotterdam Central station and has its own metro stop. Very easy to reach!

10. Hilligersberg

Fancy-pants alert! This is where Rotterdam gets its glam on. Waterside dining and swanky shops – it's all a bit posh. Top fish shop, trendy clothing boutiques, cool cafes, and heaps more. Sun's out? The lake's your playground. Hire a boat, paddle a kayak, or just stroll by the water for some classic Dutch scenery. Oh, and an ice cream is a must – it's the cherry on top!

And there you have it! A whirlwind tour of Rotterdam's quirkiest corners. From the serene to the surreal, this city's got a neighbourhood for every mood. So, hop on a bike, people, and explore away.
